This fortnightly group comprised volunteers in the parish – some longstanding Christians, others new to the faith, and others who were interested but not committed. The aim was to help them all, wherever they were on the journey, to grow in Christian discipleship.
As an aid to this, the group began using Soulspace in 2025. One person led some of the sessions to gain confidence in a safe setting, in the hope that she might lead Soulspace among some people she knew who don’t attend church.
In late November, Ali reported ‘Today one of our group led Soulspace on the Comfort theme. There were two of us grieving and it led to some beautiful discussions. This had been completely unplanned but was exactly what was needed. I then led a Bible study on a completely different subject, and the group were making links between the psalms quoted in Soulspace and the Gospel we had just read. It was beautiful.’
In 2026 the group re-formed in a slightly different way, but still uses Soulspace. Ali prayerfully envisages that in time it will cross the stepping stones from ‘The beginnings of Christian worship’, to ‘Fuller Christian worship,’ to ‘Full Christian worship’ (with the occasional Holy Communion).
