Why Soulspace?
- Soulspace supports people’s spiritual longings – for meaning, connection to something bigger, or a fuller life. It
- affirms these longings
- helps people explore them
- invites people to draw on the Christian faith, if they want, to support that exploration
- introduces those who wish to Jesus Christ
- Soulspace bridges the gap between church and much of society. It starts where people are at and offers
- Spiritual stepping stones to Christian life and worship: A Taste of Spirituality —> Beginnings of Christian Worship —> Fuller Christian Worship —> Full Christian Worship
- Bible pathways that can lead people to Christ if they want
- Content suitable to people of all ages and from a wide range of social backgrounds. It can be adapted to different contexts, and uses language that makes no Christian assumptions
- Scope to blend in an existing course like Alpha, Being With, Christianity Explored, The Pilgrim Course. You can use Soulspace as a ‘wrapper’ – before the course and as a follow-up. Or you can drop the course into Soulspace to help the group cross to the next stepping stone
- Soulspace is for Christians who are not confident in sharing their faith.
- It is all there, including the words to say
- No need to be an evangelist! Share your faith almost without knowing as you respond to gentle, experience-based questions, along with everyone else
- Grow in your faith as you share in the spiritual journeys of those who explore Jesus
- Use Soulspace to nurture lay leadership and faith
- Wanting to start new Christian communities? Soulspace can help.
- Start with what you’ve got – eg an activity with people who don’t come to church. Use Soulspace to add an optional ‘spiritual extra’. See stories for some examples.
- Cross the stepping stones to a new Christian community at the pace of the group, using the pathway of Bible verses and stories.
- Join other groups making the same journey – eg a Godsend Hub, Greenhouse, or Myriad. Be inspired, learn from others, and share your own experience. No need to invent the wheel! A group near you?
- Fulfills Christ’s command to make disciples in a 21st century way (Matthew 28. 19). Soulspace is not better than other approaches, but it’s there if you are not sure what to do.
